How to Start Loving Yourself and Live a More Positive Life!

There’s so much self-hate flying about these days. I’ve been guilty of it myself. Negative thoughts and feelings towards ourselves project outwardly, even if we don’t think that they do. The sooner we start to love ourselves and think more positively, the sooner we’ll enjoy more positive experiences. I’m a firm believer in the Buddhist saying, ‘what you think, you attract’. With that in mind, here’s how you can start loving yourself and living a more positive life in the process:

Stop Comparing Yourself to Other People

It’s not fair to keep comparing yourself to other people. Your circumstances are completely different. You’re an individual. Just because somebody else has had some success, does not make you a failure.

Start Exercising

Exercising is good for the mind, body, and soul. Of course it helps us to look good on the outside, but that isn’t the only reason we should be doing it. It also helps fight off all kinds of illness and disease, plus releases a ton of endorphins that help us to feel happier. Set challenges and goals for yourself!

Do Things You are Good At

When you’re feeling low, do something you’re good at. You might enjoy painting, writing, or making stuff. Whatever it is, do it and remind yourself how brilliant you are!

Enjoy Spending Time on Your Own

There’s nothing wrong with having some alone time. Spending time with other people can be a great way to feel more positive, but you need to be happy with your own company too. Spend time on your own watching that Netflix series or making yourself something nice to eat.

Do Things Just for You

Forget everyone else; do things just for you. Go on a course, paint your nails, book a massage. If you’ve always been self conscious about a part of your body, you could even consider surgery.  Just remember that the decision needs to be for you and you alone. Surgery will not solve all of your problems or be the answer to loving yourself, but it will boost your confidence. Breast augmentation results and rhinoplasty results are more natural than ever these days. There’s still a bit of a stigma attached to surgery. Providing you’re of sound mind and you don’t think that each treatment you have is finally going to be the one that makes you happy, you’ll be fine.

Do Good Deeds

Do good deeds for other people out of the kindness of your heart. Don’t expect anything in return. Sponsor people, and do some fun stuff of your own for charity. Help an old lady cross the road. Buy a homeless man a coffee. Things like this always give me a great sense of well being!

Learn New Things and Skills

Learn new things and develop skills so you’re always improving. Consider learning to play an instrument, or maybe even another language. Both of these things are on my ‘to do’ list. It’s never too late, you just need to be committed!

Appreciate the Good Things in Your Life

Instead of thinking of all of the things you haven’t got, start appreciating the things you have got. Good family, friends, your health. Money to feed yourself. You might not have everything that rich girl that you hate has. You might not have enough money to buy new clothes every week. But you must realise that’s not where happiness comes from. Happiness comes from within, so be thankful for everything you have!

Remember, It’s an Ongoing Thing

Loving yourself is forever. It’s not something you do for a few days and then go back to your old ways of negative thinking. You need to make a conscious effort to be kind to yourself and think positive thoughts. The more you do it, the easier it’ll come to you!

Stop all of this negativity and self-hate – life gets so much better when you start to love yourself. Start now and you’ll see!
