Taking control of your weight is a liberating and powerful thing to do. However, people usually fail to do this properly. They don’t do it in a way that really resonates with them, which results n yo-yoing from one end of the spectrum to another. Maybe you just can’t shed those last 5 pounds, or you feel you have a long way to go. Weight loss isn’t just about looking good. It’s about being physically healthy and feeling good too. Affirmations

I’ve read enough self help books by some of the most successful people in the world to know that affirmations work when you give them a chance. I always try to reframe negatives in my mind to positives, and use affirmations when I want to accomplish something. Affirmations are most powerful when you use them every day, maybe even a few times a day. However, you can use them whenever you feel you need to. It’s all about changing our beliefs, right down on a subconscious and unconscious level. You might not think you believe you’re destined to be ‘fat’ forever, but your unconscious mind might think it. By using positive affirmations to change this, you can make so much progress. However, you wouldn’t use a phrase like:

  • ‘I am not destined to be fat forever’. – this statement still sounds negative, especially since it includes the words ‘not’ and ‘fat’.
  • ‘I am in full control of my weight. I feel and look more amazing with each passing day’ – this is a much better statement, as it’s all positive and you include the way you feel in it, which is important.

Ultimately, using something that makes you feel good when you say it is essential. Of course simply saying these things and not believing them, or doing things to sabotage them won’t work. You also need to take steps to control your weight, such as eating the right foods and maybe even natural remedies marketed as an appetite suppressant. The good news is, affirmations can make taking these action steps easier.

Visualisation

Visualisation is another tool that some of the most successful people use. By taking just 5-10 minutes a day to visualise, you can pull your desired result to you. Sounds crazy, but it’s true! It’s another way of reprogramming yourself too. So, how do you visualise? Go somewhere quiet and get comfortable. Close your eyes and imagine what it would be like to have the body of your dreams. What would it look like? How would you act? What kind of words would you say? How would your life be different? Most importantly, how would you feel? Bask in this little scenario for as long as you like. Do it before bed for great results!

EFT

EFT is the Emotional Freedom Technique, and works on changing your beliefs at every level. The key to getting this right is completely de-stressing before you begin. You then use a set up statement, before tapping around your meridian points saying your negative beliefs out loud. You do about 3 rounds of this, before you continue with the beliefs and affirmations you want to have about your weight and body. If you do this enough, and deal with all of the emotional stuff that comes up, you’ll be well on your way to controlling your weight. There are a ton of videos online to help you!
