You might already consider yourself quite healthy and fit. But you want to take your health and fitness to the next level, right? Maybe you want to improve your physique in time for summer. Maybe you feel there are some improvements you can make. Here are a few things you can do to take it to the next level and see even more improvements:
Start Tracking Your Food
If you don’t already track your food, then start. You might eat ‘clean’ or something along those lines, but if you don’t actually know the amounts of the things you’re eating, you might not be helping your physique at all. You might be eating too much fat and not enough protein, for instance. It doesn’t matter if those things are healthy, you still won’t be doing the best you can do for your physique. It isn’t all about counting calories. Calories are only part of the equation. If you want to put on weight/muscle, then you need to be in a surplus. To maintain, you need to find out what your maintenance calories are. And to lose fat, you need to be in a deficit. Still, you need to make sure you’re getting the right mix of protein, fat, and carbs to enhance your physique. I use MyFitnessPal to scan and track everything. I weigh everything with digital scales too. It might seem extreme, but if you want to meet your goals then it’s something you just have to do. You’ll soon get used to it. To begin, use a macro calculator to work out what you should be consuming. Then download MyFitnessPal and buy an electric scale. The great thing about tracking your macros is that you can fit a treat in here and there ‘if it fits your macros’. But you should still make sure you’re getting plenty of micronutrients from your veg and things like that. It can be hard to consistently track your food, especially when the weekend comes around. However, if you’re consistent, you WILL see results.
Make Sure You’re Pushing Yourself
Make sure that as you work out, you’re really pushing yourself. Let’s say you’re in the gym for an hour but half an hour of that you’re basically speaking to your friends. You haven’t had a good workout. Only you can be truthful and know whether you’re really pushing yourself or not. Make sure that each set you do, each rep even, is you giving it your all!
Get a Personal Trainer
If you struggle to push yourself, maybe a personal trainer would help you. You can find personal training services in the gym or even online, whatever you prefer. I have an online trainer who helps me with my diet and designs training programs for me. She’s really supportive too, so that helps a lot!
If you want to take your health and fitness to the next level, you really have to tighten things up. You can’t keep on doing the same thing and hope to see changes. Good luck!
