Take It To The Limit? You Don’t Need To Go High-Impact For A Great Workout

There’s an incredibly pervasive idea in the world of fitness that far too many people still believe. This is the idea that, in order to get the best possible workout, you need to go as high impact as possible. There’s a ridiculous stereotype that low-impact exercise is something that only really works for people who are after the most gentle workout possible. Not only is this patently untrue but it also ignores the potential dangers of relying too heavily on high-impact exercise. While it definitely does have a lot of benefits, high-impact exercise can do a lot of damage to your bones and joints. Low-impact, on the other hand, can be a lot more gentle on your joints while still giving you an amazing workout. With that in mind, here are some fantastic low-impact workouts to get your blood pumping.

Swimming

Swimming might just be the best low-impact workout that you can do. Not only is it a fantastic cardio workout but it also helps you build up a serious amount of muscle mass as well. Even if you’re in a position where you have weak joints, swimming is perfect and allows you to combine cardio and resistance workouts in an incredibly simple way.

Rowing

If you’re looking for a low-impact exercise that offers a great aerobic workout while also hitting the maximum number of possible points on your body, then rowing is perfect for you. It’s yet another workout that is perfect for exercising your entire body without putting too much strain on it. Rowing machines are incredibly easy to use, and they help you lose weight and build strength in your arms, legs, and core all at once.

Walking

For those who don’t want to pay for expensive equipment or gym memberships then walking is the ideal choice. Not only does it offer you the opportunity for a great cardio workout but it also increases your strength and stamina. You get the chance to get out in the fresh air as well rather than having to deal with gyms that can sometimes be very hot, cramped, and crowded. Unlike jogging, walking doesn’t put undue amounts of strain on your knees either.

Yoga

Yep, you read that right, yoga! Many people assume that there’s no way you could ever actually get a decent workout by doing yoga. After all, yoga is supposed to be all about flexibility and relaxation right? Well, sort of. Yoga is undoubtedly one of the lowest-impact forms of exercise available, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to get your heart racing. Many poses require a lot of core strength are fantastic for developing muscles. Not only that but many people are shocked when they discover just how much of an amazing aerobic workout it provides as well. You could even try hot yoga if you want to get a real sweat on!

Next time somebody tries to talk smack about low impact exercise, you can put them straight!
