Affordable Yet Impressive Gift Ideas!

Doesn’t it always feel like it’s somebodies birthday? There’s always somebody I have to buy a gift for! Now, I know I don’t have to buy a gift really. But gift giving is a brilliant way to show somebody what they mean to you. The rule is it must be thoughtful, otherwise giving a gift at all is pointless! I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to break the bank when giving a gift. You can still give a gift while staying well within your budget. Take a look at these ideas to see what you think:

I don’t know a single person in the world who doesn’t love cake. I would love a cake, especially if it was a Disney cake, or another theme that I love. That just goes to show this person gets me and knows what I like! Double brownie points if the cake is homemade and decorated. It shows this person took a lot of time and effort on this gift, which means more than spending a lot of money.

A Salon Treatment

A manicure or pedicure doesn’t cost that much money, and it can leave the receiver feeling like a new woman! You can even find cheaper salon treatments on sites like Groupon and Wowcher, so you can give them a better treatment for a fraction of the price! Just make sure you read reviews of the salon first, and I’ve read about some disasters in the past.

Flowers are gorgeous, so they are a fantastic gift to receive when you’re on a budget. If you can manage to afford a nice vase too, that’s even better! Better still, create your own vase out of an old bottle and spray paint. There’s nothing I love more than a good DIY gift like this! A flower delivery and a nice DIY vase sound like the perfect gift to me.

A Picnic

A picnic will cost you as much as you want to spend on food. Then all you need is a nice blanket and location, and you’re good to go! This sort of gift is good as you’ve taken the time to plan and prepare for this person.

A Book

I love settling down at night with a good book, so why not give them a book you think they’ll enjoy? Consider their likes and dislikes and find a book that will suit them down to the ground. It could even be a self help book!

An Ornament

An ornament you feel will look good on their mantelpiece might be right up their street. You can find great vintage ornaments that are unique and affordable these days!

A Personalised Playlist

Completely free but very thoughtful, a personalised playlist is a nice gesture. Fill it with songs that remind you off this person to show them what they mean to you!

What do you think of these affordable yet impressive gifts? Can you think of anything better to give? Let me know!

What I’ve Learned About Building Muscle

Building muscle isn’t just for men. That’s one thing I’ve learned over the last few years. At some point, I can’t remember which point, I became really interested in fitness. Interested enough to do a ton of research and actually get my facts straight. NO you don’t have to do hours of cardio. YES women should lift weights. NO you won’t look like a man. There are so many things I’ve learned when it comes to building muscle, and now I absolutely love doing it. It’s definitely my favourite thing to do. I love going to the gym. It isn’t a chore, it’s a hobby. I GET to go to the gym! That’s my mindset. I haven’t always been this way, believe me. I wanted a nice body but I didn’t know what to do to get it. I cut my calories, ate junk, and did an hour a day on the elliptical before giving in after a few weeks. That was about 5 years ago. After an on off relationship with fitness and my body, I decided I was ready to do something real and worthwhile. Here’s what I’ve learned about building muscle:

Women Won’t Get Anywhere Near as Big as Men

Most women say that they don’t want to lift weights because they don’t want to look like a man. I’ve heard this a few times, and it really riles me. It’s pure laziness, and just goes to show they don’t know anything about it. Women do not have the amount of testosterone needed to get as big as men, that’s a fact. For a woman to get big, she’ll need to train for years and use a lot of deliberate eating and supplements to get that way. Muscles can change your body exactly the way you want them to. If a woman is big, that’s because she wants to look that way. Believe me.

Building Muscle is Hard

OK, so you still think building muscle will make you look like a man. I dare you to go and try it! Building muscle is hard, so it would take you a long, long time to get bigger anyway. You don’t automatically start sprouting huge biceps and boulder shoulders. It takes consistency, determination and a lot of effort to build muscle. It also takes consistency with your diet! You can’t outrain a bad diet. You’ll need muscle meat and protein shakes on order – but carbs are important too!

Building Muscle Will Change Your Body Composition

Building muscle changes your body composition. It takes you from looking soft and puffy, to fit and defined. This is why you don’t want to spend hours doing cardio; cardio eats muscle, which then gives us that soft and puffy look. It can help us lose weight on the scales, and even make us smaller, but it won’t give you a tight tummy or shapely legs. To get a gorgeous shape, weights are a must!

Building Muscle Will Help You to Burn Fat Faster

Building muscle helps us to lose fat faster in general. This means you won’t have to worry too much about an indulgent meal, for example. Its one of the best ways to speed up your metabolism.

There’s so much more information out there if you go and look for it. I think building muscle is smart, fun, and addictive. Try it and see!
