7 Party Planning Ideas To Make People Go Wow!

There’s nothing I love more than a good old knees up. Parties are the perfect excuse to go all out, get dolled up and make some incredible memories. When it comes to planning parties, I won’t pretend I’m an expert. I will, however, tell you a few things I’ve come across that I think would make a party go from 0-100 real quick!

Pick a Fun Theme

A theme will give everybody a sort of guideline as to what to expect when they show up at your party. If you’re having a tea party, that’ll remind people they should probably dress in their classiest outfit and refrain from necking too much wine before they arrive. If you’re having a 90s raver style bash, then everybody will know they can get as messy as they like. Pick a theme that excites you! You don’t necessarily have to have fancy dress, you could just carry the theme through the decor, food, and other party elements.

Choose an Awesome Venue

The venue will make a big difference to the atmosphere of your party. Make sure that people will be able to get to it easily, and that you’ll be able to fit everybody in the venue. You don’t want to have the police come and shut you down for being a fire hazard, although that probably would make you sound really cool.

Make Your Own Playlist

Instead of letting a DJ play the Macarena all night, make your own playlist. Give the DJ a list of songs you’d love, and songs you definitely don’t want. Include genres, artists, the lot. If you want to save money, you don’t need a DJ at all. Simply make a CD or Spotify playlist and make sure it’s long enough to last the duration of your shindig!

Come up With Your own Yummy Cocktail

Why not create your own tasty cocktail especially for the occasion? Make it the best thing anybody has ever tasted and you should be really popular. Better yet, put on a free bar. It’ll be bloody expensive, but everyone will love you for getting them so smashed – that’s just how people work in 2015!

Hire Some Badass Transport

Want to show up at your party in style? You need badass transport. Limo hire is an option, but the sky’s the limit here. Why not show up in a helicopter? Or a bus? Or a fire engine? A quick search online and you’ll get all kinds of badass transport ideas.

Order Pizza

Your guests will more than likely get hungry after a while, what with all of that alcohol. However, most party food can be messy, and you’ll be the one that has to clean up the place the next day. To minimise mess and fuss, order pizza. Everybody loves pizza. Order a few different toppings to keep people happy and your guests should be very grateful!

Choreograph Your Own Dance

You might not want to do this, but it’ll be one for the memory bank! Get your team/squad/wolfpack together and choreograph and awesomely-hilarious yet mesmerising dance routine. Perform it once you strut into the joint and watch your guest’s reaction. It could be like that dance from scene from White Chicks or like something you’d see on Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew.

My ‘By the Pool’ Summer Style Tips

Looking good by the pool or even on the beach is something I love to do. Obviously I won’t spend hours getting ready to lounge around and potentially get soaking wet anyway. However, I do make sure I’m styled properly should anybody decide to take their camera out! Here are the style tips I’m going to be sticking to:

Wear Minimal Makeup (If You Have to)

I prefer not to wear any makeup when I’m relaxing by the pool or on the beach, because it makes me feel uncomfortable. If the sun is really hot, it’ll start to slide off and it just won’t look attractive. If you must wear makeup I’d say wear a tinted moisturiser with SPF, mascara, eyebrow pencil, and lip gloss at most. Just don’t forget you’re wearing it if you go in the water!

Invest in Quality Sunglasses

A pair of quality sunglasses are a must. They aren’t just a fashion accessory; they protect our eyes and the skin around them from the sun’s rays. This helps our eyesight and stops premature aging. Make sure your sunglasses offer full UV protection. It’s a great excuse to buy a stylish pair if you don’t currently have one. They hide my tired eyes too when I’ve been out partying the night before!

Swimwear to Suit Your Shape

Different styles of swimwear suit different shapes. Try to work out what your body shape is and then select swimwear to suit it. I’m pear shaped, because my top half is small but my bottom half is larger. I’ve read that means that I should emphasize the top half of my body with my swimwear to draw the attention upwards and balance out my figure.

Flatforms

I love flatforms. They’re not heels and not quite a wedge but they still add height. They make me feel much more confident as they lengthen my legs and help me to stand up taller! Plus, if you find a good pair, you should find that they’re super comfortable. There’s nothing wrong with a comfy pair of flip flops, but flatforms will always make you look better in pictures!

Accessories

I like to add a few accessories to my poolside outfits too. Not too many though; then it just gets uncomfortable. If the sun is really hot, I have to add a hat or my scalp will burn. You probably think nobody will notice a bright red scalp, but they do. I might wear a few rings with coloured gemstones to compliment the colour of my swimwear. Plenty of boho chic bangles can add a hippy vibe. I love body chains at the moment too – they make a statement perfect for a pool party! Just don’t wear any of your delicate, expensive jewellery if you plan on swimming – the chlorine in the pool might damage it.

I hope you love these tips and have an amazing time, whichever pool you’re going to be lounging by. Let me know any tips of your own by leaving a comment!
